The Sharing Economy

God’s blueprint is the great commission

According to the Joshua Project that tracks the population of people unreached by the gospel of Jesus Christ, in the last quarter of 2019, approximately 41.5% of the global population or 3.19 million people have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ.

God desires that no one should perish but that everyone gets the opportunity to repent and access eternal life (2 Peter 3:9). But how will they know unless they are taught? How will they experience the love and power of God unless it is demonstrated to them?

In this Information Age of instant communication, we have the greatest opportunity to fulfill and accelerate the great commission “Go into all the world and make disciples of all men, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28: 19-20).

We are living in what is termed the sharing economy where peer-to-peer marketing transcends borders and cultures. We ride share and house share with total strangers. The great commission is the blueprint of the sharing economy with each one reaching one. Let’s share the hope we have that the world craves. Christ in you is the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27). Share the love of God. Share his truth. Share the hope of eternal life. Share his forgiveness and his healing power.

We have at our disposal great resources to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Air travel has made it easy for us to get to distant places. The Internet has brought together over 53% of the world’s population in one place. With WiFi connection we can reach people in the most remote and distant places. Through smart phones people can view anything thrown up on the world wide web. Let’s make our presence felt there.

Much closer to home, we are surrounded by neighbors, co-workers, friends and family who don’t know God personally. God calls us his ambassadors in the earth. His commission to go into all the world—include our neighborhoods. And he sends us with this assurance… “and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

Therefore, have no fear of what you will say or how you will be received. Just “let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you are the light of the world! Illuminate the darkness around you so that through Christ and by Christ others too can be set free to experience His love, forgiveness, healing, restoration, power and have eternal life.
