The Best Insight to Live Day-by-Day

Our uncertain outlook of the future is not uncertain to God.

Some parents received news this week that schools will not reopen until September. That means their children will be at home for at least another three months. That’s a longer-term adjustment than most people can wrap their minds around.

Will we have the grace to homeschool our kids and not lose our minds? How will this extended break impact returning to work? If we can’t return to work, how will we be able to afford to live? If we return to work, who will care for our kids? How will our kids handle this prolonged disruption? There are so many unknowns to process.

But parents are not the only ones navigating an uncertain future. It’s seems we all are.

The modus operandi since the global COVID-19 pandemic have become “Day-by-day”.

This approach to life can be a massive stressor. But hasn’t life always been day-by-day?

Despite our best efforts, how much certainty do we have over the future? When you think of it, what can and have we ever been able to unequivocally guarantee about our tomorrow?

Even the most meticulous, disciplined and knowledgeable among us only “know in part”.

The truth is, only God is all-knowing. And what we know of Him is that He loves and cares for each of us more than we can ever fathom. When God created us, He set our times and our seasons and His plans for us are for good and not for evil.

Even as you read this, God is present with you in this moment. Take a deep breath and absorb His promise, “Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Our uncertain outlook of the future is not uncertain to God. “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a bright hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Your perspective is critical to how you come out of this season. Set your thoughts steadfastly therefore on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable. If anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)

God desires more than you could ever fathom, that you live your best life. He said along the journey there would be trouble, but He has overcome them all and because of that—as a believer in Jesus Christ—you can too. (John 16:33). Ask Him to teach you how to trust Him day-by-day.
