Wisdom for Today

Strategies to reap a great harvest.

Since the beginning of the year we have stayed on the theme that this is the year for manifested glory for great harvest. We anticipate a great harvest of souls, land and resources for the glory of God.

But to reap the harvest requires wisdom to know: where to harvest, when, how and be confident in your why.

This week we examine “wisdom for the harvest” to identify proven strategies to ensure your effectiveness. Jesus in sending out the disciples to share the good news of the gospel and demonstrate its power, encouraged them as follows:

#1. Be wise and not unaware or ill prepared. “Go your way; listen carefully: I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. (Luke 10:3 AMP)

#2. Do not rely on your own strength but avoid all distractions that could delay or derail your focus.  “Do not carry a money belt, a provision bag, or [extra] sandals; and do not greet anyone along the way [who would delay you].” (Luke 10:4 AMP)

#3. Be a messenger of peace. “Whatever house you enter, first say Peace [that is, a blessing of well-being and prosperity, the favor of God] to this house.’ (Luke 10:5 AMP)

#4. Know the readiness of the harvest. “And if anyone of peace is there [someone who is sweet-spirited and hospitable], your [blessing of] peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. (Luke 10:6 AMP)

#5 Humble yourself.  “Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not move from house to house.” (Luke 10:7 AMP)

# 6 Demonstrate the power of God as you share the message of hope through Jesus Christ. “Whenever you go into a city and they welcome you, eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick [authenticating your message], and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ (Luke 10:8-9 AMP)

#7 Know when to move on. “But whatever city you enter and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you [breaking all ties]; yet understand this, that the kingdom of God has come near [and you rejected it].” (Luke 10:10-11 AMP)

The harvest is all around us. It spans every generation, every race, every continent and every culture. Wherever we are, we have an opportunity to share the message and mission of Christ and help restore hope and peace to our world.

As Jesus’ co-labourers working the harvest fields, let’s inquire of his wisdom to undertake this task daily. He promises, “If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5 AMP)
