Knowing Your Powerful Purpose

PAT FRANCIS, September 2017

Your powerful purpose is keeping you alive. Purpose can be described as the reason for which something is done, designed, or created. The reason for which something exists. A chair is designed for one purpose “for people to sit on”, and therefore the a (wood, iron, cloth), sturdiness (weight bearing), and stability (comfortable and unshakeable) must be carefully considered.

Your powerful purpose is the reason why God created you, and you were born for such a time as this. You were carefully and masterfully created by God for powerful purpose. Your gifts, talents, training, experiences (good or bad) is for your powerful purpose. Your purpose is connected to your ability. A chair does not have the ability of car.

Your Powerful Purpose:

  1. Will keep you alive

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”. (Rom. 8:28). Whether experiences are good, bad, or ugly, your powerful purpose is your security that God is in control of your life, He is with you, He will never forsake you and the gates of hell cannot destroy you.

  1. Will open powerful doors

Esther was an orphan living among subdued Jews in Persia.  Her powerful purpose opened the door for her to adopted by her Uncle Mordecai who played a key role in guiding her towards her destiny. The King of Persia divorced his wife and launched a Queen Pageant and Competition for a new Queen.  Esther found herself in the finals as a potential choice. She won. Esther became the Queen of Persia. However, she shockingly came to realise that the powerful purpose was the save the Jews. It was a great risk that could cause end in her death, but Mordecai coached her into a great realization, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows if you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Est. 4:14). Esther conquer her fear with faith in God and she was savior of the Jews.

  1. Is not just about you

God is very interested in your purpose and wants you to discover His purpose for you. His purpose will stand the tests of time. Pray about not just your purpose in life, but about God’s purpose for you.

God knows His plan and purpose for you. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer. 29:11).

Pray and obey and your powerful purpose will keep you alive, open for you powerful doors, and give you the privilege and joy to play a vital role in God’s eternal purpose.
